Our joint residential this year was fantastic. Eight pupils from Acorns met up with five Year 7 pupils from Sir Tom in the North East of England. We had a great time together - playing on the beach at South Shields, learning about the history of our country at the Beamish Museum and spending time socialising and enjoying meals at our great hotel.
One of the highlights was riding around the Beamish site on old trams. It was brilliant to see the pupils forging new friendships (and rekindling old ones!). Our pupils had a lot of questions for the staff and children from Sir Tom. The Year 7 pupils were excellent role-models, and our pupils really benefitted from the whole experience, from developing relationships to building their resilience.
A remark from one pupil - ‘I wish we could do another few days here’ - really showed how valuable and enjoyable the transition activity had been.
Thanks to all the pupils and staff that put so much into the holiday.
